生物光子学研究院是华南师范大学第一个以科研为主的研究型学院，于2009年1月以激光生命科学教育部重点实验室、光子中医学实验室为核心单位组建，立足新兴交叉学科生物光子学基础与应用研究，以发展生命体结构与功能信息的光子学检测技术为核心，开展从基因水平、分子水平、细胞水平、到组织水平的多层次、多模式、全方位的无损、快速生物光子学诊断方法和监测技术，其研究内容涵盖了光子学技术与生物医学、农业、环境科学等的前沿交叉领域。

研究院现有教职工41名，其中中科院院士1名，国家杰出青年1名，博士生导师12名，教授级人员14名，副教授级人员13名，具有博士学位人员34名，国外留学回国人员6名，形成了以院士、中青年学科带头人为骨干的优秀学术队伍，科研队伍平均年龄降低到40岁以下；并于2008年获“教育部长江学者与创新团队计划”资助；研究院科研人员连续4年担任国际光学界最具影响力的美国Photonics West大会生物光子学会议主席；三位教授分别被选为美国光学学会（OSA）和国际光学工程学会（SPIE）的Fellow。   

研究院建成了一套完整的“硕士-博士-博士后”高层次、多学科交叉的人才培养体系，现有博士学位点5个，其中包括光学国家重点学科，生物物理学、生物医学光子学、声学、分析化学；硕士学位点5个，其中包括光学、光学工程、生物物理学、声学、分析化学；博士后流动站2个，其中包括物理学、生物学（生物光子学方面）；已培养出一批高素质、高层次的科研人才。研究院十分注重开展学术交流，促进对外的学术联系和合作，以提高各学科点在国内外的学术地位。

研究院以科学创新为原始动力，以国际领先为直指目标。（1）近五年来新增国家“973”计划课题2项，“863”计划课题1项，教育部创新团队项目1项，国家自然科学基金广东省联合基金重点项目1项、国家自然科学基金仪器专项2项等40余项国家级课题。（2）已在国际顶级期刊 Chemical Review、Nano Letters、Phys Rev Lett、Small、Biomaterials等发表300余篇SCI论文，主要论文被Nature、Nat. Biotechnology、Nat. Rev. Cancer、Chem. Rev.等顶级刊物大量引用，SCI期刊论文他引超过5000次；（3）2008年获美国医学物理学会“Sylvia Sorkin Greenfield Award”奖；1996年、2005年度广东省自然科学一等奖2项；2000、2008、2009年度广东省自然科学二等奖3项； 2012年度获教育部高等学校科学技术奖二等奖1项。

Welcom to College of Biophotonics (SCNU)

    Institute of Biophotonics is the first research college in South China Normal University. It was established in 2009 with Key Lab. of Laser Life Science of Ministry of Education and the Key Lab. of Laser Life Science of Guangdong Province as the core units. With the development of photonics detection technology for structure and function information of living organisms as the core, it develops multi-level, multi-mode, all-round non-destructive and rapid biophotonics diagnostic methods and monitoring technologies from gene levbel, molecular level, cellular level to tissue level. Its reseach conten covers the frontier cross fields of photonics technology and biomedicine, argriculture, environmental science, etc.

    More than 350 doctoral and master students are recruited each year. There are 5 research fields including Optics, Biophysics, Biomedical Photonics, Acoustics and Analytical Chemistry. A group of high-qulity and high-level scientific research talents havbe been cultivated. The Institue attaches great importance to carrying out academic exchanges, promoting academic contacts and cooperation with other countries, soas to improve the academic status of each subject at home and abroad.
